Photography as a meditation

Photography as a meditation

I stalk the light, and the world fades away.
There is only this moment,
this camera,
this flower,
this light.

Which camera? Irrelevant:
an old beater, camera phone, DSLR…
it doesn’t matter.

The flower – deconstructed
petal, stamen,
line, curve,
color.

I capture the light, not the flower
The way the light moves and flexes,
around and through,
reflection,
absorption,
glow.

In the end, it’s not even about me;
it’s about embracing the light.

New year – well in some cultures, but I’ll take it.

Even Easter and Passover speak of fresh starts.

Time to stop and take a deep breath. It doesn’t matter that I’m not at a good stopping point; when does that ever happen?

Poppies

Poppies

I thought I’d share these poppies for a little color bling for this end of summer post.

Monday was our seventh wedding anniversary. Seven years, and I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. I know I’m lucky to spend my life surrounded by so much love.

Now that we’ve risen to the challenge of sickness and poorer, I’m looking forward to experiencing some richer and health. 😉

Any day now…

In the meantime, we’re just trying to soak up the beauty we find all around us.

Dandelions

I love dandelions.

223

They are such simple, earnest, friendly, happy flowers. I understand that people tend to despise the weed, but they warm my heart.  They’re like children; they may make a mess of the yard, but really they just want to make you smile.

Besides, their greens are yummy.

These bear cubs thought so too. They were making quite a nice meal of Dandelions right alongside the highway. (We were a little east of Whitehorse, YT, here.)
