Go, girl

Go, girl

She’s always been on the go. From the day she was born, she was ready to roll. Before that actually, I went into labor the first time at 32 weeks.

She’s my go getter.

My go girl has strong opinions on everything. She got very angry with me when she saw this picture, “You took my color away!” Dear internets: Don’t tell her I posted this, okay?

But she sure loves her Uncle Timmy. And his motorcycle.

Mama’s Shoes

Mama’s Shoes

Every once in a while, a picture shows me a peek at what she might look like as a teen. I’m not sure I’m ready to imagine her as a teen, that will come soon enough.

chucks

Whether they’re heels or Chucks, she just loves to wear Mama’s shoes.

That might stay the same when she’s a teen, too. Provided my shoes are cool enough.

Friends

Friends

Have you ever watched little kids make friends? It blows me away with it’s simplicity and straightforwardness. They just run up and start playing together. No introductions necessary. No concern over who lives in what kind of house, or wears designer labels, or whose mom drives what kind of car. Shame and embarrassment and comparison? All that comes later. Much too soon, sadly.

In the meantime, I’m learning from this kind of authenticity.

holding hands

This is my daughter and her cousin, caught up in “I’m so happy to be here with you, I just wanna hold your hand.”

So precious.

Shark Girl: We’re gonna need a bigger boat

Shark Girl: We’re gonna need a bigger boat

My little girl has been consumed by a shark obsession.

She is SHARK GIRL.

shark girl

She even has a shark poster on her wall.

Those cute little stains around her face are evidence of her other current obsession: frozen blueberries.

The Spirit of Christmas

The spirit of Christmas is strong with my child.  She was so concerned that there was no present for Grandma under the tree, that she set about to rectify the situation. It’s worth noting that Grandma lives in Alaska, and there were no plans for her to visit us for Christmas, my little girl just wanted to make sure Grandma was represented in our Christmas.

First she needed a present, so she got one of my shoes.

ONE shoe.

She spent a great deal of time wrapping that shoe. Maybe even half an hour.

Daddy had to intervene to keep her from using up an entire roll of tape. But she did get to use a few pieces.

168

Then she made a label, so everyone would know who the present was to, and who it was from.

171

She got some help with spelling, but wrote the entire label herself.

176

And then proudly placed the label on the package, and put the package under the tree.

179

Her approach to Christmas was not exclusively altruistic, she also wrote a letter to Santa with a list of items that she wanted.
