Camels, tigers, polar bears… what animal at the zoo would most capture a toddler’s attention?
Could it be a squirrel?
Dee took us to the Alaska Zoo during our recent visit, and Gem was captivated by this little red squirrel.
He didn’t move a lot at first
But I promise he was real
see…
They played peek-a-boo and hide and seek for a while
Then one last peek as we said good bye.

Isn’t it amazing what their little eyes (and hearts) focus on?

Those are some great shots of the squirrel! Whenever I try to take a picture of one, it runs off

That’s usually the case with me too, but this squirrel was obviously quite accustomed to having people around.

Just adorable. On our trip to Animal Kingdom a few months back my boys were very excited about a little brown rabbit that was sitting in some bushes after we got off of the train….kids are so cute. That squirrel was very tame…I know why she liked it. Love it!!

Yeah, I think that squirrel was expecting a treat from her. he looked pretty well fed.

It figures that they would like a squirrel out of all the exotic animals…LOL!! But that squirrel is sooo darn cute!

It’s like buying an expensive toy and they end up playing with the box. But, the squirrel was really cute.

Great shots. Mine little one is the same. Take him to ride a horse and he wants to watch the bees. But if it makes them happy…

Oh I totally agree. that was the whole point of going to the zoo – so what if she’s looking at animals that weren’t in the brochure.

I don’t know what it is, but I am mad for squirrels, so I get it! When we lived in London I used to drag my husband to Hyde Park regularly so we could play with the squirrels. Just the best fun. x
