How to Feed a Baby Woodpecker
ne of the coolest things we got to watch on our camping trip last weekend was a woodpecker feeding her babies
She was a bit suspicious of us, so if we were making any noise she’d go land on a different tree and wait till we shut up and sat still before she went to the tree with her babies.

Cherries
Russ has a cherry tree on his property, half of the branches hang over the hammock, and the other half extending out over the river.
The part over the hammock never seems to have as many cherries as the part that extends over the river
this pretty little bird sat in the cherry tree and sang for us a spell

The Hammock
As usual, I spent the vast majority of my time at cheese days in the hammock.
As a result, the vast majority of my photos are of items I could spy from the hammock.
Side Note to Hammock Manufacturers: Is it so difficult to come up with a hammock design that allows one to get in and out of the hammock without making an ass of oneself? And cupholders – why are there no cup holders?

Cheese Days 2008
Every year 40 some odd aging friends of Papa Russo converge at his trailer down by the river to get drunk, float down the river, and then blow up their leftover illegal fireworks.
We call it Cheese Days, and I look forward to it every year.
It’s all about this
and this
and this
and this
and a lotta good times

Bottoms Up
Every once in a while I do a double-take when I see waterfowl feeding under water. For a moment, I stared at these geese completely unable to identify the species. Then their heads pop back up and I feel dumb.
Funny how the phrase “bottoms up” usually involves intake of some kind, whether you’re human or aviary.
I see these birds every day, and I take pictures of them almost every day. One of these days you are all going to get sick to death of my bird pictures. Personally, I prefer having birds making their way through my back yard as opposed to the other critters that hang around here: an endless supply of rats, bugs and other creepy crawlies that I cannot identify. Although it is nice to see the bees back in action.
There is a giant squirrel that lives around here, but my camera has yet to capture him. Don’t tell anyone, but I’m actually a little bit afraid of him. Shhhh!
